Pick against the spread, best player prop for Spurs vs. Nuggets on Friday

We go over some of the best betting options for Friday’s matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets.

Why Terrence Ross is a good option at Forward

The Denver Nuggets (33-18) and the San Antonio Spurs (24-25) are facing off for the second time in a row after the Nuggets sailed to a 106-96 win in the first game on Wednesday. The Spurs are 2-8 in their last 10 games while riding a four-game losing streak, and they’ll have to go up against the Nuggets again tonight. Denver, conversely, is 8-2 in their last ten with their winning streak up to seven games now. Jamal Murray (knee) has missed two games and is still listed as questionable, though they’ve already proven they can still beat the struggling Spurs without him.

Spurs vs. Nuggets, 9:00 p.m. ET, NBA League Pass

Pick ATS: Nuggets -8.5

This is a big spread to cover, but anyone who’s seen both these teams play recently would probably agree that Denver can make it happen. The Nuggets have seen a significant improvement in play since Aaron Gordon arrived, who’s offered some much-needed help on the defensive side. Facundo Campazzo got the start in the first game with Murray’s absence, but only went for six points, five rebounds, and two assists in 28 minutes on the court. If Murray is back in tonight’s lineup, it should be lights out as he can easily drop 25-30 points especially against a team who can’t seem to buy a win lately. Nikola Jokic, who had a couple underwhelming games recently, went for 25 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds in the first game against the Spurs, logging his third straight double-double. It’s pretty safe to say that this one’s in the bag for the streaking Nuggets, and they shouldn’t have any trouble covering the spread at home tonight.

Player Prop: Michael Porter Jr. O2.5 three-pointers (+100)

Porter has only shot under 40 percent from downtown once in his last 10 games, and that was in the first game against the Spurs. He shot 1-for-3, but in each of his nine previous games he never dipped below that 40 percent mark. He’s generally lethal from three-point land when he gets the opportunity, draining anywhere from 2-5 in any given game. With his last game seeing a slight dip in performance, he’ll be ready to improve on that tonight.
