NBA injuries to monitor ahead of Friday’s slate on April 9th

We note some of the injuries to keep an eye on heading into Friday’s nine-game slate with the potential to affect basketball DFS lineups and betting lines.

Jalen McDaniels and other NBA Value plays

We’ve got nine games on the schedule for Friday, April 9th, and there are plenty of big names on the injury report. Here we’ll be monitoring all the latest injury news with some analysis and how to approach the injury for DFS and fantasy basketball.

NBA Injury Report: Friday, April 9th

Giannis Antetokounmpo, PF/C, Milwaukee Bucks

Update: Middleton and Lopez have been ruled out. So the total count is Middleton, Lopez, Giannis, Holiday and DiVincenzo, all sidelined vs. the Hornets.

Update: Add Middleton, Holiday, Brook Lopez and Donte DiVincenzo to the injury report for the Bucks. Holiday is out with a knee injury. Middleton is doubtful due to a knee injury and Lopez is also doubtful with a back issue. DiVincenzo is out with a hip ailment. So basically everyone but Portis and Holiday are injured for the Bucks? Kidding, but Milwaukee is going to have a tough time sending out anything close to competitive vs. the Hornets.

Bucks PF/C Giannis Antetokounmpo has been ruled out again for Friday’s game vs. the Charlotte Hornets due to a knee injury. Jrue Holiday ($8,400) and Khris Middleton ($8,100) will continue to be chalky plays. Bobby Portis ($5,700) is up in price but should still return value filling in at PF. Portis, Pat Connaughton, Jeff Teague and Bryn Forbes should get a ton of run for the Bucks tonight.

Indiana Pacers injury report

Update: Sabonis and Brogdon are both available to return to the lineup vs. the Magic. Both players will resume their spots in the starting lineup.

Update: Sabonis and Brogdon are both game-time decisions vs. the Magic.

Pacers PF/C Domantas Sabonis and PG Malcolm Brogdon are both being listed as questionable to play Friday vs. the Orlando Magic. C Myles Turner has already been ruled out with an ankle injury. Goga Bitadze ($3,800) will continue to be a strong value with Turner sidelined. If Sabonis and Brogdon are out again, Caris LeVert ($7,600) is still a strong GPP play given his ceiling. Justin Holiday ($4,200) is the other value if the Pacers are without Brogdon and Sabonis.

New Orleans Pelicans injury report

Update: Ingram is available to play while Ball has been ruled out.

Pelicans SF Brandon Ingram (toe) and PG Lonzo Ball (hip) are both being listed as questionable to play Friday vs. the Philadelphia 76ers. If Ball remains out as well as rookie PG Kira Lewis Jr., then Eric Bledsoe ($6,400) should get a lot of run. The issue is his ceiling isn’t very high and his price is inflated a bit. Isaiah Thomas ($4,700) is back in the NBA with the Pels and isn’t a bad tournament play if the Sixers get up big. Zion Williamson ($9,000) is a good GPP option given it’s a tough matchup (if Ingram is sidelined again).

Charlotte Hornets injury report

The Hornets are missing a couple key players in PF Gordon Hayward (foot) and PG LaMelo Ball (wrist) both ruled out on a long-term basis. SG Malik Monk (ankle) is also out for at least another week. PG/SG Devonte’ Graham ($6,800) has stepped up in a big way with the absences, seeing an uptick in minutes and workload and should be a solid addition. Miles Bridges ($5,500) has averaged 14.8 points so far in April and has started the last two games in Hayward’s absence, so Bridges should see plenty of run for at least the next few weeks until Hayward makes his way back.

Jamal Murray, PG, Denver Nuggets

Update: Murray has been ruled out vs. the Spurs.

The Nuggets’ star PG Jamal Murray (knee) has been out for the last two games, and remains listed as questionable for tonight’s second straight contest against the San Antonio Spurs. Both of Murray’s missed games have been wins for Denver, and tonight should be no different. Facundo Campazzo ($3,200) got the starting nod in his place last game and went for 15.25 DKFP, which isn’t anything special at his price. Nikola Jokic ($10,500) is nearly always a good idea and is worth the money, averaging 58.3 DKFP all season long. He’s had three straight games logging double-doubles, and will most likely continue to take on a little more workload if Murray still sits.

Bradley Beal, SG, Washington Wizards

Update: Beal will start vs. the Warriors.

After missing five consecutive games, Beal made his return against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday and went for 39.75 DKFP right out of the gate in 30 minutes played. He reportedly played through his hip issue, which apparently includes some nerve issues. He should probably be expected to play tonight even though he’s still listed as questionable, but he’s proven he can be a big-time scorer while still dealing with pain on the court. On the off chance he sits, Raul Neto ($3,900) would still be the value play in his place.

Atlanta Hawks injury report

Update: Capela and Gallo will play vs. the Bulls.

The Atlanta Hawks are looking like they could be mighty thin tonight against the Chicago Bulls, with PF/C John Collins (ankle), SF De’Andre Hunter (knee), and PG Cam Reddish (Achilles) all listed as out ahead of the contest. In addition, C Clint Capela (Achilles) and SF/PF Danilo Gallinari (ankle) are both listed as questionable. Capela and Gallinari both sat out against the Bulls on Wednesday, and if that remains the case tonight then Solomon Hill ($4,100) and Onyeka Okongwu ($4,000) should see increased minutes again. Okongwu went 32 minutes for 33.75 DKFP in the last game against the Grizzlies while Hill added 23.5 DKFP through 29 minutes played.

Paul George, SG, Los Angeles Clippers

Update: Rondo has been ruled out vs. the Rockets. Patrick Beverley is also expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a fractured hand.

The Clippers are listing PG-13 as out due to rest. Rajon Rondo (groin) is also on the injury report and is questionable. Kawhi Leonard ($9,400) would be a decent GPP option but there’s a good chance the Clippers just demolish the Houston Rockets on Friday. Ivica Zubac ($5,000) is a good overall play on DK if Serge Ibaka is sidelined again. Zubac should play big minutes despite the outcome of the game. Terence Mann ($4,600) should be a decent value if Rondo is ruled out.
