You’d think in April we’d be getting amped up for a rematch of the 2020 NBA Finals. Two huge injuries later and we’re left with Miami Heat vs. Los Angeles Lakers in 2021. To add to things, the Lakers may be without Kyle Kuzma tonight. So that would mean they’re down LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Kuz. The Heat should be able to take advantage, but they haven’t been able to find much consistent play this season. Let’s take a look at the lines and spreads on DraftKings Sportsbook for Thursday night.
Lakers vs. Heat, 7:30 p.m. ET, TNT
Pick ATS: Heat -8.5
This line will likely shift again with the news that Talen Horton-Tucker has been suspended one game. If Kuzma also sits out due to injury, the Lakers will be very shorthanded. The Heat have had their issues this season but are at home in a game they really need to win. Miami is 26-25 and in the 6th seed in the East, on the cusp of the play-in tournament. Desperation should be sinking in for Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. I think we see some of it tonight.
Player Prop: Duncan Robinson O3.5 three-pointers made (+125)
When I usually see a player prop juiced either on the plus-money or minus-money side, it screams bettor beware. However, Robinson has been a flamethrower from behind the arc for the Heat. In Miami’s last five games, he has gone over 3.5 three-pointers made all five times. Also, over that span of time, Robinson is shooting 51.1% from deep and has made 4.8 three pointers. In the Heat’s last 10 contests, he is also shooting a high percentage at 41.1 on 4.1 three-pointers made.
Now granted, the Heat are going up against the Lakers, who are letting opposing teams to shoot 30.2% from three-point range in their last three games. But if they do not have Kyle Kuzma, that will be another perimeter defender not on the floor.
