The National League Central is expected to be one of the most competitive divisions in all of baseball, and the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs will start a three-game series on Monday, April 5th. The first pitch is set to get started at 7:40 p.m. ET from Wrigley Field. Chicago won two of their three games against the Pittsburgh Pirates to start the season, while the Brewers went 1-2 against the Minnesota Twins.
Milwaukee will turn to Brett Anderson on the mound, while Chicago is ready to go with Trevor Williams on the hill as slight favorites to win the first game of this series.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs, 7:40 p.m. ET, ESPN+
Moneyline pick: Brewers +102
The Cubs had the better opening series of the season between the two clubs, but they also went up against what might be the worst team in the MLB with the Pirates. Milwaukee had a much more challenging time with the Minnesota Twins, who are expected to contend for an AL Central division title. The Brewers will need to get their bats going, and they have a good chance at stringing together base runners against Williams, who had a 6.18 ERA in a shortened 2020 and a 5.38 ERA in 2019. He also led the league in home runs allowed last season, so Milwaukee should be ready to swing.
