The Dallas Cowboys’ 2020 season ended in Week 5 when quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending injury against the Cleveland Browns. Without Prescott under center, Dallas struggled as they went through three different quarterbacks (Andy Dalton, Ben DiNucci, and Garrett Gilbert).
Additionally, the Cowboys’ running game was non-existent as Ezekiel Elliott went weeks without scoring a rushing touchdown. Defensively, the secondary gave up a league-high 27 touchdowns to wide receivers this season. This year, the Cowboys have a top-10 selection to address their defense. Will they actually do it? Or will the powers that be end up taking Kyle Pitts or another offensive player?

Team needs
Offense: Offensive Tackle/Tight End
If standout tight end prospect Kyle Pitts or one of the top-three wide receivers drop, do not be surprised to see draft them at No. 10 overall. Pitts would be a significant upgrade to a position for the Cowboys, which is mediocre at best. He would be another weapon inside the red zone and help make that Dallas’ offense explosive.
Sticking on the offense, keep an eye out on offensive tackles Rashawn Slater and Christian Darrisaw for the Cowboys. Both tackles are up there with Penei Sewell and could make a legit case for being the best offensive lineman in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Cowboys could not go wrong with either guy as they think about life after Tyron Smith.
Defense: Cornerback
The Cowboys need to honestly spend their first-round pick on a cornerback after last season’s debacle. Rookie cornerback Trevon Diggs struggled in coverage, giving up big play after big play. He allowed the most touchdowns with five, but only allowed opposing QBs to complete 54.8% of their passes. The Cowboys will look to draft either Patrick Surtain II, Jaycee Horn, or Caleb Farley to solidify one of the cornerback spots.
Dream first pick
The Cowboys don’t waste no time and make sure to address their defense in the first round. With the 10th overall pick, Dallas takes Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain II, who could become that CB1 for the foreseeable future.
