Update: April 5 8:15 p.m. At DraftKings Sportsbook, Gonzaga is now a 4.5-point favorite over Baylor. 50% of the handle and 52% of the bets are on the Bulldogs. The total is now 159.5, and the over is getting 56% of the handle and 57% of the bets.
It didn’t take long for the betting public to take a position on the national championship game between No. 1 Baylor and No. 1 Gonzaga.
The two best teams in college basketball all season are facing off for the trophy, and things have started to move in Baylor’s favor after yesterday’s games.
On the “lookahead” lines from DraftKings Sportsbook, Gonzaga was a six-point favorite. That was down to 5.5 after Baylor’s 78-59 beatdown of Houston on Saturday night in the Final Four.
But then Gonzaga played, and despite winning one of the best college basketball games in decades 93-90 over UCLA in overtime, the number has continued to move against the Bulldogs. It’s down to Gonzaga -4.5, and as of right now at DK Sportsbook, 54% of the handle and 41% of the tickets are on Baylor to cover the spread. It’s early, but there seems to be some belief that Baylor can make a game of this.
The moneyline is where the bettors really like the Bears: With the price at +165 presently, 76% of the action and 66% of the wagers are on Baylor to win outright. That puts Gonzaga at -210, getting 24% of the cash and 34% of the tickets.
It seems like the wagering community thinks we’ll be in for a fantastic game tomorrow night as someone cuts down the nets and wins their first national championship in program history.
