The first round of the 2021 NFL Draft went quarterback heavy at the top just as expected on Thursday night. The first three picks went to the QB position, and all five first rounders went in the top 15. The next tier of quarterbacks are unlikely to be Day 1 starters, but they will hope to hear their names called during the second day of the draft. Here’s a look at some of the best players still available at the position.

Davis Mills

The former Stanford Cardinal quarterback did not go in the first round as some thought might happen, but some team will land a talented player with solid arm talent and the size NFL teams are looking for. He didn’t see the field much in his college career with just 14 games under his belt. In a 2020 season cut short due to COVID-19, Mills played in five games and completed 66.2% of his passes for 1,508 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions.

Kyle Trask

As the operator of one of the best offenses in college football in 2020, former Florida Gators quarterback Kyle Trask has a future as an NFL player. Trask can put spectacular touch on his throws, and he took advantage of an offense that featured tons of skill position talent including Kyle Pitts and Kadarius Toney, both of whom were selected in Thursday’s first round. In 2020, Trask completed 68.9% of his passes for 4,283 yards with 43 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 12 games.

Kellen Mond

Kellen Mond was asked to do a ton in the Texas A&M Aggies offense throughout his career and came away with mixed results. He had a ton of experience at the college level with 46 games played over four seasons. Mond is a true dual threat quarterback who can do plenty of damage with his legs, and a strength of his could be his ability in the RPO game. In his best college season in 2020, he completed 63.3% of his passes for 2,282 yards with 19 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed for 294 yards with four touchdowns on the ground.
