Best bets for Alabama WR to be drafted first: DeVonta Smith or Jaylen Waddle

We break down our vote for best bet for which WR will be drafted first in the 2021 NFL Draft: DeVonta Smith or Jaylen Waddle.

Steve Buchanan’s NFL mock draft top-10

DraftKings Sportsbook is offering odds on which former Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver will be selected first in the 2021 NFL Draft between DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle. Waddle played in just six games in the 2020 college football season with an ankle injury. His absence may be considered among the reasons Smith won last season’s Heisman Trophy, with one less talented pass catcher in the Alabama offense.

Player Odds

DeVonta Smith +140
Jaylen Waddle -177

Best bets

Odds are Waddle will go first, but it’s not out of the question for Smith to come off the board ifrst. He’s worth the risk in this scenario after he proved to be unstoppable throughout the 2020 college football season with 1,857 receiving yards and 23 touchdown receptions. He was Alabama’s top receiver in each of the last two seasons even with Waddle, Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III on the roster in 2019. Betting against Smith in just about any scenario is the wrong choice, and he’s the pick here with plus value.
