Players to consider fading in NBA DFS for Tuesday, April 27th

In NBA DFS, there will always be some flashy names that may tempt you to pay up — even in an unfavorable matchup. Name value sometimes comes with reliability, but the trick to cashing in on your NBA lineups is to maximize the boom while operating under the salary cap. Sometimes, this means fading the chalk plays and spending elsewhere.

Here, we’ll break down three top NBA DFS fades for the game slate on Tuesday, April 27th.

Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers ($9,100)

This might feel like a risky fade for any DFS manager, but Lillard just hasn’t been performing to his full potential as the Blazers find themselves on a five-game losing skid. Lillard recently missed three games due to a hamstring issue, and he’s still finding his way back as he’s largely underperformed since his return. His output is slowly going up (38.5, 39.75, and 43.5 DKFP in his last three games), but at his price it might be better to spend your salary cap money elsewhere.

Fred VanVleet, Toronto Raptors ($7,900)

If VanVleet could guarantee you at least his season average of 39.6 DKFP, then I’d say go for it. He’s only managed to score above that once in his last five games, and has averaged just over 30 fantasy points in that stretch. That number looks nice, but it’s due to his big performance against the Knicks where he racked up 57.75 DKFP. He’s been in and out of the lineup recently due to a hip issue, and the Raptors are on the second night of back-to-back games, so he could easily be a rest candidate tonight against the Nets.

Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks ($10,900)

In another fade that might feel risky, Doncic’s fantasy output has slowly been diminishing over the last five games or so, even with their pair of wins over the Lakers last week. His season average is 55.1 DKFP, but he’s failed to reach that in both of his last games, finishing with 44.75 DKFP against the Kings last night. On top of that, he’s listed as questionable ahead of tonight due to an elbow contusion, and the Mavericks are playing for the second night in a row as they take on the Warriors. With uncertainty and fatigue at the forefront, it might be a good idea to pass on Doncic tonight especially at his price tag.
