The Chicago Cubs head down to Truist Park on Monday night to start a three-game slate with the Atlanta Braves. Before the game starts, be sure to check out our picks on the moneyline plus a player prop we think has a good shot of paying off.
Cubs vs. Braves, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN
Moneyline pick: Braves -180
Atlanta just took two of three from the Cubbies when they met at Wrigley last week and will be dying to get back on the board after being no-hit Sunday by the Arizona Diamondbacks and Madison Bumgarner.
Chicago also comes in on a two-game losing streak but swept the Mets right before in a four-game set. Still, the starting pitching matchup will determine the outcome of this one and Atlanta’s Charlie Morton has been more dominant this season than Zach Davies. The Braves have already teed up on Davies once, shelling him for seven hits and four runs in just four innings. Morton hasn’t dealt with the Cubs yet, but in his last outing he gave up just one run and three hits over six innings. Morton has gone at least five innings in all of his starts, but Davies has done it just once in four appearances.
Player Prop: Freddie Freeman over 0.5 hits (-250)
Freeman is a veteran hitter and has had a very successful career. He comes into this one with just one hit over his last four games, but he’s had a good time against the Cubs. In their recent three-game series, he tallied at least one hit in every game. Look for him to do the same here.
