What time is the 2021 Oscars ceremony and how long will it last?

If you’re wondering when the 2021 Oscars will start or how long the will last, we’ve got you covered.

The Oscars

The annual movie awards season comes to a close Sunday evening with the 93rd annual Academy Awards. The Oscars will air on ABC with the show getting underway at 8 p.m. ET.

The Oscars are scheduled to run until 11 p.m., but dating back to the turn of the century, the show hasn’t clocked in faster than the 3 hours and 13 minutes it ran in 2012. Over the past five years, the quickest time was 3 hours and 21 minutes while the longest time was 3 hours and 53 minutes. It’s a loooooong program even when there is no host as will once again happen this year.

There are 23 total awards to be handed out during the televised program. The order of awards varies by year, but it always closes with Best Picture and usually opens with either Best Supporting Actor or Best Supporting Actress.

Nomadland is the favorite to take home Best Picture, with DraftKings Sportsbook installing the film at -670. That is followed by The Trial of the Chicago 7 (+600), Minari (+1400), and Promising Young Woman (+1700).
