Best MLB team stacks for DFS on Friday, April 23rd

We have a loaded 15-game schedule in MLB on Friday, which means there are still multiple opportunities to come away with a win in DraftKings baseball DFS. The main slate has 14 games starting at 7:05 p.m. ET. There’s only one game beginning at 2:20 p.m. ET between the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs.

Sometimes with a plus-matchup on the MLB game slate, we get an opportunity to slot multiple players from the same team into our DFS lineups. You can learn more about MLB DFS strategy, including team stacks, here.

Here, we’ll break down three of the best team stacks for the MLB slate on Friday, April 23rd.

Athletics vs. Orioles, 7:05 p.m. ET

We haven’t targeted the Athletics in a MLB DFS stack all season, but it’s the perfect time to do so with how they’ve been playing. Oakland has won a season-high 11 games in a row and will look to make it 12 on Friday night against the Baltimore Orioles. Oakland has defeated opposing teams by an average of 3.45 runs, while also scoring 7.63 runs per game.

DraftKings Sportsbook has the run total for Friday night’s contest set at 9.0. Baltimore starting pitcher Jorge Lopez has been below average on the mound with a record of 1-2 and ERA of 8.56. The 28-year-old right-handed starter has given up at least one home run in his first three starts this season. Oakland first baseman Matt Olson is a player to watch as he’s recorded a hit in nine out of 10 games and had five games of 10 fantasy points or more.

Reds vs. Cardinals, 8:15 p.m. ET

For our second DFS stack, we are going to focus on the best offense in the majors in the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds are on a four-game losing streak after falling in a 14-11 high-scoring affair on Thursday to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Despite not having a win since April 17, the Reds are still scoring 5.75 runs per game. As a team, they still lead the majors in runs scored per game with 6.17.

On Friday night, they will be going up against Cardinals starting pitcher Kwang Hyun Kim, who made his season debut last week versus the Phillies. In that game, Kim only went three innings as he gave up three earned runs, five hits, and struck out four. Last season, Kim was 2-0 against the Reds, allowing no earned runs with seven strikeouts in 11 IP.

Phillies vs. Rockies, 8:40 p.m. ET

The Rockies aren’t the better team on paper, but they have a more favorable matchup on Friday night at Coors Field. Colorado will be facing Vince Velasquez, who is making a spot start for the Phillies in place of Matt Moore. This season, Velasquez has not looked great out of the bullpen with an ERA of 9.00, while allowing eight walks and four earned runs in only four innings of work.

Over his seven-year career, Velasquez has a record of 2-1 and 4.91 ERA in seven starts versus the Rockies. He also has an ERA of 5.31 in four games at Coors Field. DraftKings Sportsbook has the run total set at 10.5 runs, which is not farfetched based on the Phillies offense and Velasquez on the mound.
