Mets vs. Cubs, 7:40 p.m. ET, ESPN+

Moneyline pick: Cubs +100

The run line for Thursday night’s contest is set at -1.5, with the Mets favored on the road at Wrigley Favored. New York is also surprisingly favored on the moneyline at -115. The Mets got absolutely crushed by Cubs on Wednesday, despite having 10 hits. New York struggled in the field with four errors, which is a quick way to lose a game. Shortstop Francisco Lindor hit his first home run as a Met in the fifth inning off of Zach Davies and finished the game 3-for-4. Overall, this Mets’ offense has still yet to its power, only hitting nine home runs this season (last in the National League).

However, the Cubs’ offense, which has also been lackluster to start the season, got after Mets starter David Peterson. He only went 3.1 IP and gave up four hits and three earned runs. Then they attacked the bullpen, ultimately finishing the game with 16 runs scored on 13 hits and went 8-of-15 with RISP. Shortstop Javier Baez went 1-for-4 with a grand slam that he hit in the sixth inning, extending their lead to 10, They will look to get Lucchesi off the mound early as he has not looked great in his first two outings this season. Cubs starter Trevor Williams has an ERA of 5.02, but has pitched great in two starts at Wrigley with a 2.45 ERA.

Player Prop: Joey Lucchesi U4.5 strikeouts (-125)

This player prop for Mets starting pitcher Joey Lucchesi is juiced on the under, but its for good reason. In his first two outings this season, the 27-year-old has failed to go over 4.5 strikeouts twice. Additionally, the last time he faced the Cubs in 2019, Lucchesi had three strikeouts in 4.1 IP. The only time he did go over 4.5 strikeouts against the Cubs was his rookie season in 2018 with the Padres. Lucchesi recorded nine strikeouts in 5.2 IP of work.
