Moneyline pick, best player prop for Mets vs. Rockies on Friday [UPDATE]

The New York Mets must be cursing at Mother Nature. Rain shut down their game in three of the past five days. So now they have traveled out to Denver and it’s snowing. The powder came down heavy on Thursday and the snow showers are expected to continue into tonight, so this is yet another Mets game — and yet another Jacob deGrom start — at risk of getting scrapped.

Moneyline pick: Mets (-278)

There’s no fun to be had with that line, but what do you expect? The Colorado Rockies have lost six straight and are the worst team in baseball right now, and they get to face the man who is unquestionably baseball’s best starting pitcher. Coors Field hasn’t been an issue for deGrom in the past; when he pitched there in 2018, he gave up one run over eight innings in a 12-2 Mets victory. He’s better now than he was then, and deGrom won his first Cy Young Award that year. Although any bet here won’t net you much profit, I can’t make an honest argument to side with the Rockies, who are listed as +235.
