These noted boxing historians, who also wrote classics like Doggystyle and The King of Staten Island in their spare time, will be on the broadcast for the PPV boxing event in Atlanta this weekend.

The Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren fight scheduled for Saturday night in Atlanta is already one of the more unusual sporting events you’ll ever see. But the broadcast team that will bring the event to you makes it even a bit more bizarre.

The play-by-play announcers brings plenty of pugilistic chops to an unusual event. Al Bernstein is a Boxing Hall of Fame member and an analyst for Showtime Television. Mike Coppinger is the boxing writer at The Athletic, and hosts a weekly podcast on the sport. Ray Flores is a ring announcer with plenty of play-by-play experience regarding the sweet science.

But the rest of the broadcast crew is a bit unusual, and for the most part we don’t know how they’ll be involved.

Snoop Dogg and Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson will be there, and Snoop’s color commentary work on Triller’s Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. fight last November was heavily lauded, if a little bit unconventional. We’re unaware of any ties between boxing and Davidson.

There will also be plenty of influencers involved somehow as well. Mario Lopez of Saved By The Bell and various entertainment television shows and celebrity appearances will be there. Supermodel Taylor Hill is involved in the broadcast in some as-yet-unknown capacity, as are sisters Dixie and Charli D’Amelio who have 163 million combined follows on TikTok. Except for Lopez, by the numbers all those listed above are more popular than Logan Paul himself on social media.

You can purchase the four-fight card, which includes musical performances by Justin Bieber, The Black Keys, Doja Cat, Saweetie, Diplo, Major Lazer and Mt. Westmore (a group of Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Too $hort and E-40 performing together), from either your cable or satellite provider, or by clicking here.
