Moneyline pick, best player prop for Phillies vs. Mets, Game 1 on Tuesday

We go over some of the best betting options for Tuesday’s matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets.

The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets will play a doubleheader Tuesday beginning at 4:10 p.m. ET after Monday night’s game was postponed due to weather. These two NL East rivals played each other last week, where the Phillies won two out of three at Citizens Bank Park.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Chase Anderson will be on the mound for the Phillies, while the Mets will run out Taijuan Walker. But for the night cap, we get an exciting pitching matchup between ace Aaron Nola (Phillies) and Marcus Stroman (Mets). We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.

Phillies vs. Mets, 4:10 p.m. ET

Moneyline pick: Phillies +114

The spread for Tuesday afternoon’s contest is set at -1.5 runs, with the Mets favored at home. New York is also favored on the moneyline at -132. After a slow start to the year, Philly’s offense showed signs of life this past weekend against the Atlanta Braves. The Phillies scored 12 runs in the three-game set, with home runs by Bryce Harper, Rhys Hoskins, and Didi Gregorius. Harper came into that series without a home run this season, but seemed to have figured it out in the final two games. Philadelphia will hope that they can keep swinging for the fences and get a quality start from Anderson.

The last time Anderson was on the mound, it was against the Mets last week, when the Phillies lost 8-4. In that game, the veteran pitcher allowed two hits, two earned runs, a home run, and struck out three in 5.0 IP. The Mets’ offense has struggled since that 8-4 victory last week against the Phillies. In their last three contests, they are only averaging 1.3 runs per game, which includes a 3-0 shutout loss. Walker is scheduled to make his second start of the season for the Mets. The right-handed pitcher struck out four and only gave up four hits, two earned runs, and two walks in 6.0 IP versus the Marlins.

Player Prop: Chase Anderson O4.5 strikeouts (-113)

For the Phillies to pull off the first doubleheader victory, they will need Anderson to give them another quality. In his Phillies’ debut against the Mets last week, he pitched five innings and struck out three. This particular prop is sitting at even money between over or under 4.5 strikeouts, so you cannot go wrong with either prop.

But with the Mets’ offense currently struggling, this feels like a good spot for Anderson to pick up some strikeouts. Over his career, he has not pitched well against the Mets, with an ERA of 4.47 and record of 2-4 in nine starts. But Anderson does have 44 strikeouts in 44.1 IP and K/9 of 8.9.
