The New York Yankees began their three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays with a 3-1 win Monday night. Yankees ace Gerrit Cole only allowed one earned, one walk, and three hits, while striking out eight in six innings of work. Backup catcher Kyle Higashioka led New York with a two home runs, driving in all three of their runs. For Toronto, shortstop Bo Bichette went 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored, while outfielder Randal Grichuk was 1-for-4 with the team’s lone RBI.
The two AL East rivals will play each other again on Tuesday night at 7:07 p.m. ET. Jameson Taillon will be on the mound for the Yankees, and he’ll be opposed by Hyun Jin-Ryu for the Blue Jays. We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.
Yankees vs. Blue Jays, 7:07 p.m. ET
Moneyline pick: Yankees -109
The spread for Tuesday night’s contest is set at -1.5 runs, with the Yankees favored on the road. However, the Blue Jays are slightly favored on the moneyline at -108. The Yankees are coming into game two of this three-game set on a two-game winning streak. The last time these two teams played each other was Opening Weekend, when the Jays took two of three in New York.
One of those games was started by Ryu, who only allowed four hits, two earned runs, a home run, a walk and struck out five in 5.1 IP on Opening Day. It’s hard to see the veteran pitcher replicating that outing against a Yankees’ squad that is only hitting .232/.323/.369. Also, over his career, Ryu has an ERA of 5.53 and 1-2 record in five starts vs. the Yankees. With that in mind, the Yankees’ bats should fare better after DJ LeMahieu, Giancarlo Stanton, and Aaron Judge went a combined 0-for-10.
Player Prop: Aaron Judge to hit a home run (+350)
What’s the best way for the Yankees’ top three hitters to breakout out of their 0-for-10 slump from Monday? Hit a home run. Judge is tied with Giancarlo Stanton as the top two Yankees players with the best odds to hit a HR. The 28-year-old outfielder is slashing .290/.389/.484 with two home runs and nine RBI this season. Over his career against Ryu, Judge is 3-for-7 with a home run and RBI in seven plate appearances.
Additionally, Judge is hitting .310/.416/.597 with 18 home runs (second-most against any team in his career) and 37 RBI against the Blue Jays. He also has no problem facing right-handed pitching, slugging .274/.377/.559 in his career.
