Update: April 12, 1:55 p.m. — Washington is being listed as probable to play in Tuesday’s game vs. the Los Angeles Lakers. The Hornets big man was forced to exit early in Sunday’s loss to the Hawks after spraining his ankle. Clearly, the sprain isn’t very serious and Washington is expected to play on Tuesday. He’s worth monitoring in terms of fantasy basketball. This game should be competitive, so if Washington plays, he should see a normal amount of minutes. It’ll mean fewer minutes for Zeller, Biyombo and McDaniels.
Charlotte Hornets PF/C PJ Washington left Sunday’s game vs. the Atlanta Hawks due to an ankle sprain and was unable to return. Washington scored 8 points with 3 assists and 2 rebounds in 24 minutes before having to exit. The Hornets and Hawks are currently in a tight contest late in the fourth quarter. The Hawks were without Trae Young, Danilo Gallinari and a slew of other regulars for the game.
The Hornets went on to lose 105-101. Washington is usually a power forward and started at center against the Hawks, so big men like Jalen McDaniels, Cody Zeller, and Bismack Biyombo could get a bump in minutes while he’s out. McDaniels led all Charlotte post players in minutes with 29 on Sunday. The rookie could benefit most from Washington’s injury.
