The Atlanta Braves will go for the clean sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday Night Baseball to end Week 2 of the 2021 MLB season. The Braves are looking for revenge after suffering the same fate to start the season, a sweep by the Phils. Freddie Freeman was the hero on Saturday with 3 RBI, including a two-run HR. We’ve got some lefty-on-lefty action with Matt Moore going for the Phils and Drew Smyly for the Braves. Let’s take a look at the lines and make some picks.
Phillies vs. Braves, 7:08 p.m. ET, ESPN
Moneyline pick: Braves -167
Atlanta should complete the sweep tonight given the pitching matchup. The Braves have a predominantly righty lineup, which doesn’t bode well for Moore, who (more recently) has been demolished by right-handed bats. Back in 2018, Moore’s last full season pitching, he allowed righties to hit .305 with a .920 OPS and .350 BABIP. So guys like Ronald Acuna, Ozzie Albies and Marcell Ozuna should have a chance to tee off against the veteran lefty.
Prop: Leader F3 Braves (-104)
The moneyline doesn’t offer a ton of value, so we can get on the first 3 innings and get closer to EV on the Braves. Moore only lasted 3.1 innings in his first start of the season and walked 4 batters with 4 hits. This feels like a game in which the Braves top bats can jump on Moore and get out to an early lead. On the flip side, the Phils are batting just .229 with 12 runs scored over 7 games as a team vs. lefties like Smyly.
