American League Cy Young betting splits before Opening Day

We take a look at how the public is betting on the American League Cy Young heading into the 2021 MLB season.

The 2021 MLB season will begin on Thursday afternoon, and 15 games will take place on opening day. Opening day will feature some of the league’s top arms, and baseball fans will get to see three of the top five candidates for the American League’s Cy Young Award on the mound. Let’s go over who’s garnering the most attention from the public on DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Cleveland Indians’ Shane Bieber (+400) is the reigning champion and has the second-best odds to win is the public’s golden boy in the early going and leads the field in handle percentage (40%). While most of the money is on the 25-year-old, but several other pitchers have higher ticket shares. New York Yankees ace and odds-on favorite Gerrit Cols (+350) has long been eluded by the award but leads all pitchers 25% of the total bets. Cole is trailed by Chicago White Sox pitchers Lucas Giolito (+450) and Dylan Cease (+4000). The Tampa Bay Rays’ Tyler Glasnow (+950) has the fourth-best odds but commands just 5% of the handle and 7% of the total bets.
