The Gonzaga Bulldogs and Saint Mary’s Gaels will meet up in the West Coast Conference Tournament’s semifinal round on Monday night. The game will tip off at 9 p.m. ET from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The winner will advance to face the winner of BYU vs. Pepperdine.

Gonzaga (24-0, 15-0 West Coast) remains the only unbeaten team in college basketball and for good reason. The Bulldogs are the No. 1 ranked team in the country in the polls and are the top team in the latest KenPom ratings with the best offense in adjusted efficiency. The Bulldogs haven’t played since February 27th, an 86-69 home win over Loyola Marymount. Senior forward Corey Kispert averages 19.5 points per game, and sophomore forward Drew Timme is putting up 18.9 points per game.

Saint Mary’s (14-8, 4-6 West Coast) is the No. 4 seed in the tournament and is coming off a 52-47 victory over Loyola Marymount in the quarterfinal round on Saturday. Junior guard and leading scorer Logan Johnson played very well with 25 points on 9 of 15 shooting from the floor and 7 of 9 from the free throw line. The Gaels rank No. 76 in KenPom and while they struggle on the offensive end, they have the No. 12 defense in terms of adjusted efficiency.

Point Spread, Totals, Odds, Trends

Point spread: Gonzaga -18
Point Total: 141.5
Money line: Saint Mary’s +1200, Gonzaga -2500

  • Saint Mary’s is 1-5 against the spread in their last six games.
  • The total went under in five of Saint Mary’s last six games, while the over cashed in each of Gonzaga’s last five games.
  • Gonzaga is 28-0 straight up in their last 28 games.

The Best Bet

For as good as Gonzaga has been, the oddsmakers seems to have a fairly good read on the Bulldogs as they’re just .500 against the spread this season at 11-11-2, so that’s not where we’re going with this wager. Gonzaga is one of the fastest teams in the country in terms of possessions per game, while Saint Mary’s is the slowest. With these factors, let’s assume the game gets played in the Bulldogs’ style and speeds up the Gaels’ offense. Gonzaga will do their part as the No. 1 ranked offense in adjusted efficiency and Saint Mary’s will do just enough for this game to hit the over.
