No. 2 Michigan only trails No. 1 Gonzaga as far as national rankings go but was unexpectedly blown out by No. 4 Illinois in its last game. The Wolverines are set to face Michigan State on Thursday in an in-state rivalry game, but the Spartans won’t go down easy as they try to keep their NCAA Tournament dreams alive.

Michigan (18-2, 13-2 Big Ten) sits atop the Big Ten standings, as Minnesota and Illinois are the only teams that have bested the Wolverines this year. Michigan shot a pitiful 34.7% from deep in its latest loss, and nobody could put the ball in the basket. Center Hunter Dickinson will have to re-assert himself as a scoring threat to boost his team after scoring six points on 1-of-8 shooting against Illinois.

Michigan State (14-10, 8-10 Big Ten) has made waves by beating Illinois and No, 7 Ohio State in recent weeks. While the Spartans did fall to Indiana toward the end of February, they're a bubble team with a real shot at making the big show. Senior forward Aaron Henry will be key to unlocking Michigan State’s potential, as he leads the Spartans in points, rebounds, and assists per game.
