The A-Sun once again has a dominant team up top, but the No. 1 seed looks a bit more vulnerable this year than in season’s past.
We’ll be taking a look at some of the best teams in each conference, and providing picks and predictions for each conference tournament. Plenty of favorites will win, but we’ve got some sleepers to consider that might be able to pull off a big upset on the way to the NCAA Tournament.

Favorite: Liberty Flames
No surprise here as the school from Lynchburg, Virginia tries to make it three A-Sun titles in a row. The Flames have the fourth-best eFG in Division I at 57.5%, and Darius McGhee looks tiny out there at 5’9, but he can shoot the lights out: He’s 40% from three-point range and 56% from the field overall for his 15.5 points per game.

Sleeper: Bellarmine Knights
They are the No. 2 seed in their first year as a full D-1 member which is truly impressive, but are still a mile behind the No. 1. The Flames beat them 94-78 in Louisville’s Freedom Hall to finish the season, but they had won 10 in a row prior. If anyone can take the auto-bid away from Liberty, they’re still likely the best shot.
Dark Horse: Lipscomb Bisons
Qualifications: They actually beat Liberty 77-70 on New Year’s Day. They followed that up with a 66-50 loss to the Flames on January 2nd, but a win is a win. The Bisons (plural is correct here) will try to play through the post and Ahsan Asadullah, who at 6’8 is a monster by A-Sun standards. He averages 14 points and eight rebounds a game, and they’ll need all of that to steal an automatic bid.
