Free agent running back Leonard Fournette will return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, per Josina Anderson. Fournette had a storybook run in the playoffs and Super Bowl after a fairly lackluster 2020. He mainly backed up lead back Ronald Jones and even had a couple games where he was a healthy scratch, but when the bell rang, “Playoff Lenny” was up for the fight.
Bucs are giving RB Leonard Fournette a one-year deal deal worth up to $4 million, per source. https://t.co/4WNeQ1BLDZ

During the regular season, he ran the ball 97 times for 367 yards and six touchdowns and caught 36 passes for 233 yards and no touchdowns. But in the playoffs, he actually topped his regular season numbers in four games, as he rushed for 300 yards and three touchdowns at 4.7 yards per carry compared to his regular season rate of 3.8 yards per carry. He also caught 18 passes for 148 yards and another touchdown in his great playoff run.
The Buccaneers have made a concerted effort to bring back their key players from 2020 and have done a remarkable job. Multiple players were set to be free agents that will return, including Chris Godwin, Shaq Barrett and Lavonta David to name just a few.
