No. 15 Oral Roberts vs. No. 3 Arkansas odds history ahead of Sweet 16 matchup

We take a look at the odds history from the 2021 season for the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles and Arkansas Razorbacks ahead of their matchup in the Sweet 16 of the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

Why Oral Roberts may advance to the next round of the NCAA Tournament

The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles are one of the many Cinderella’s in this year’s NCAA Tournament, but they’ll face their toughest test Saturday night when they take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Sweet 16.

Arkansas, a top-10 team when the regular season ended, is the heavy favorite with the line sitting at -11.5. The point total is very high at 159 and you can grab the moneyline for ORU at +425 and -625 for the Hogs.

No. 3 Arkansas: 24-6 (20-9 ATS*)

November/December: 6-2 ATS
January: 4-5 ATS
February: 6-0 ATS
March: 4-2 ATS
Vs. Total: Over
In NCAA Tournament: 2-0 ATS

* One no line

The Razorbacks were one of the best teams in the nation during the regular season and probably would have won the SEC if it wasn’t for Alabama’s dominant campaign. This spread is far bigger than what they’re used to giving though, with only seven games featuring double-digit spreads on the season and only one since the start of 2021. None of those opponents were NCAA Tournament teams. Out of those seven games, they’ve covered the spread just four times as well, so this seems a bit high, even for a seemingly overmatched ORU team.

The Razorbacks have faced four top-25 teams this season and split those, going 2-2. But they got stronger and stronger down the stretch, winning the final two top-25 games, including a win over SEC champion Alabama. They’re ranked 14th in the NCAA NET rankings and have gone 7-5 against quad one opponents.

The point total on this one is very high for Arkansas as well. Over the whole season, the total has been set higher than 159 four times. The under has hit on three of those occasions. They’ve also hit the under in all of their last four games regardless of point total.

No. 15 Oral Roberts: 15-10* - 16-9 ATS

November/December: 4-1 ATS
January: 3-5 ATS
February: 4-3 ATS
March: 5-0 ATS
Vs. Total: 17-8 Over
In NCAA Tournament: 2-0 ATS

* Three non-D1 games uncounted

The Golden Eagles hadn’t beat a single NCAA Tournament-qualifying team until the Round of 64 began, losing to five of them during the regular season, including Arkansas back in December. In that matchup, the Razorbacks came away with an 11 point win, but ORU covered the 19.5 point spread. The point total in that game was set at 154.5 and the over hit with a combined score of 163.

Oral Roberts has covered the spread in six consecutive games and eight of their last 10 games overall, including a 15 point line in their first-round win over Ohio State. Their point total has been very high this season and they’ve topped a 159.5 line on six different occasions. Obviously the last time they played Arkansas they shattered that point total as well. Though as the Tournament goes on, the defense gets better and they couldn’t top 159.5 in either their first or second-round game.
