Tyrod Taylor will move on from the Los Angeles Chargers to the Houston Texans this season and could end up starting for the troubled franchise. DeShaun Watson appears ready to sit out the season if the Texans don’t trade him and the Texans say they aren’t going to give in.

In the end, the Texans will likely want to get something in return for their franchise quarterback. That could mean they still end up trading for a better quarterback and is the smarter choice, but if they continue to dig their heels in, they could be stuck with Taylor as QB1.

QB Tyrod Taylor signing: Fantasy football impact

Taylor has shown he can be a good fantasy quarterback when he gets plenty of rushing attempts. Unfortunately, his passing has been too inconsistent to keep him on the field. If he can win the job and be used extensively as a runner, his fantasy upside remains good, but that will be a tall order.

The Texans will be Taylor’s fifth team in his 11 year career. His best season came in Buffalo in 2015, but he was competent as the starter from 2015 to 2017, as he was very much a game manager who added value with his rushing ability. In those three seasons he threw for 51 touchdowns to 16 interceptions in 43 starts while rushing for 1,575 yards and 14 touchdowns.
