Players to consider fading in NBA DFS for Tuesday, March 23rd

There are six games on tonight’s NBA slate, so there are plenty of options for you to pick as you’re putting together your lineups. To help make that process a little easier, we’ve gone through and picked out a few different players that you should think twice about, who might not put in the performance you’re hoping for.

In NBA DFS, there will always be some flashy names that may tempt you to pay up — even in an unfavorable matchup. Name value sometimes comes with reliability, but the trick to cashing in on your NBA lineups is to maximize the boom while operating under the salary cap. Sometimes, this means fading the chalk plays and spending elsewhere.

Here, we’ll break down three top NBA DFS fades for the game slate on Tuesday, March 23rd.

C.J. McCollum, Portland Trail Blazers ($7,400)

Normally, C.J. would be an easy choice especially on a team as hot as the Trail Blazers, who have won seven of their last 10 games as they push toward playoffs. He’s averaged 40.2 DKFPPG on the season, but in his four games since returning from injury, that’s dropped significantly down to 26.1. He’s had one 46.5 DKFP performance, in the Blazers’ 125-119 win over the Mavericks last weekend, but his other three games saw him score a pair of 19 DKFP and a single 20. He’s only shot roughly 35 percent from the field since his return, averaging 16.5 points per game — a far cry from his season average of 45 percent shooting and 24.3 points.

Kelly Oubre Jr., Golden State Warriors ($6,200)

Oubre Jr has been underwhelming especially since Steph Curry (tailbone) has been sidelined. He’s only gone 6-for-20 from the field in the two games without Curry, and hasn’t been able to score more than 28 DKFP throughout his last seven games. His price tag has been dropping, understandably, but don’t expect him to turn things around overnight. There are better options from Golden State (Andrew Wiggins, anyone?) if you’re looking to slot someone in for less cash where Curry would normally sit.

Montrezl Harrell, Los Angeles Lakers ($6,800)

Though he’s been doing a decent job at filling the hole left by Anthony Davis, let’s take into consideration his role especially now that LeBron James is out of the picture for the foreseeable future. The Lakers will most likely struggle as a whole over the next couple weeks up until Davis makes his return — whenever that is — and most of their players should probably be avoided altogether. If you absolutely have to pick someone from the Lakers, there are some decent value options in guys like Marc Gasol ($4,200) if he’s healthy, or Alex Caruso ($4,000).
