The Cincinnati Reds were a chic pick to claim the National League Central last year. Adding Mike Moustakas, Nick Castellanos and other bats during the winter and trading for Trevor Bauer in the middle of the 2019 campaign put a lot of people in their corner for 2020. Although they did make the playoffs, they were bounced quickly by the Braves and finished just two games over .500. Now, Bauer is gone and Cincinnati’s roster looks generally the same otherwise. Yet, the Reds are expected to be a winning ballclub in 2021. Let’s take a look at the best betting option for the Reds’ win total line on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Cincinnati Reds Under 82.5 wins (-124)
That line represents just a one-game drop from the Reds’ 2020 pace, which will be difficult to repeat without Bauer. There are plenty of good pieces on this team; Castellanos, Moustakas and Eugenio Suarez are a solid middle of the order. Luis Castillo and Sonny Gray are a great 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation. The bullpen looks pretty deep with the likes of Amir Garrett, Lucas Sims and spring training darling Tejay Antone. But it’s debatable as to whether the Reds have enough talent beneath those stars to have a better-than-.500 year, something they haven’t accomplished over a full season since 2013. In what should be a season-long dogfight with three other teams in the NL Central, the safe money is on Cincy finishing under this win total. The over is currently at +100.
