Arkansas managed to go on a 17-0 run to end the first half of Monday’s game en route to an 85-68 victory. Senior forward Justin Smith was at the heart of the surge. He rattled off a season-high 29 points to go along with 13 boards in the Razorbacks’ win, while star freshman Moses Moody scored 12 points and trailed Jalen Tate (15) and JD Notae (14). Arkansas will need better guard play to keep up with the Red Raiders.
No. 6 Texas Tech: 18-10 (9-8): At-large
KenPom rating: 19 Overall, 33 Offense, 21 Defense
NET ranking: 16 (4-10 VS Quad 1)
Leading scorer: Mac McClung (15.7 ppg)
Texas Tech’s offense is run by Georgetown transplant Mac McClung, but he had plenty of help when his team took down Utah State 65-53 on Friday. McClung led the Red Raiders with 16 points, but Kevin McCullar and Terrence Shannon Jr. chipped in with 10 points apiece. Texas Tech will face a much more potent offense in its next matchup.
