The Seattle Seahawks are bringing back free agent running back Chris Carson. He has agreed to a two-year, $14.625 million deal to stay in the Pacific Northwest, according to Tom Pelissero. Adam Schefter is reporting it is actually a three-year, $24.625 million deal that voids after two years.
Carson managed to post his best yards per carry rate of his career in 2020, as he averaged 4.8 yards, but he also only ran the ball 141 times in 12 starts. Injuries troubled Carson for much of the season, but he was still effective when healthy. He has yet to play a full 16-game season, but has averaged at least 4.4 yards per carry each of the past three seasons.
Carson returns to a backfield that lost Carlos Hyde in free agency, but returns Rashaad Penny, DeeJay Dallas, and Travis Homer, among others. Seattle had been linked to Leonard Fournette, but that may change now that Carson is back in the fold.
