Free agent running back Kenyan Drake has found a new home, and a new opportunity to compete for touches. The Las Vegas Raiders have signed Drake, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. He’ll get a two-year deal worth up to $14.5 million.
Kenyan Drake put together a good 2020 in Arizona, as he rushed for 955 yards and ten touchdowns. He did average just 4.0 yards per carry compared to his 5.2 yards per carry with the team in 2019, but for the most part was a positive part of the Cardinals offense. He’ll now head to Las Vegas to work behind Josh Jacobs behind a currently depleted offensive line.
The real winner here is probably Chase Edmonds, who should get more opportunities in Arizona depending on their offseason moves going forward. Drake will likely fill the Jalen Richard role in Las Vegas, but will likely cut into Jacobs’ touches more than Richard.
