Philadelphia 76ers C Joel Embiid suffered an apparent lower-body injury in the second half of Friday’s game vs. the Washington Wizards. Embiid drove to the basket and was fouled before going down awkwardly on his leg. He stayed on the ground for a bit, clearly in pain. Embiid was able to get up and walk to the locker room. We’ll keep you updated on his status in this game. Here’s a look at the play and what happened after via Sportscenter.
Update: Woj is now saying that the Sixers are calling Embiid’s injury a “hyper-extended knee” which is good news in the short-term.
Update: Well this isn’t good. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting Embiid will undergo an MRI on his left knee after leaving Thursday’s game.

Embiid was injured in the third quarter and was on his way to another solid performance in a convincing win for the Sixers. The center — if he’s unable to return — will finish with 23 points, 7 boards and 3 assists on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor. Keep in mind, we don’t know if this injury is serious. If it is, Embiid is currently the favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook to win NBA MVP this season at +200. Things could change dramatically in the MVP race if Embiid misses any time with a leg injury.
