Arizona Cardinals Super Bowl odds get J.J. Watt boost

Expectations rise for the 2021 Arizona Cardinals after free agent news.

The news of three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt heading to Arizona has excited the fan base and his new teammates. Cardinals defensive end Chandler Jones put NFC West quarterback Russell Wilson on notice already:

There’s no doubt that the Cardinals need to get to the quarterback if they want to get into the playoffs and make a run and the odds for such a run have gotten better according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

After news of Watt’s landing spot hit, the Cardinals odds quickly changed:

Super Bowl: From +5000 to +3300
NFC Championship: From +2200 to +1500
NFC West: From +700 to +500

We saw Arizona’s offense bog down last season while the defense was able to get to the quarterback, but had to rely on the blitz more than they’d like. Getting Jones back from injury and adding Watt should make their pressure more organic, which would help their pass defense out tremendously.

Kyler Murray and the Cardinals offense as a whole will need to get more efficient, but they do have the pieces to continue to improve on the offensive side of the ball. As long as Arizona continues to have a positive offseason, the hype for their 2021 season should continue to build.
