The Miami Heat and New York Knicks will face off in one of four Showdown contests on DraftKings for Tuesday night’s slate. Here we’re going to go over some picks, including how to approach the Captain’s slot, some FLEX plays and a player to avoid, plus the final score prediction.
Julius Randle’s ($15,600) matchup against kelly Olynyk yielded him 56.3 DKFP the last time these two teams faced off, and it’s hard to see him not dominating the Heat’s stretch 4 again. He stuffs the stat sheet on a nightly basis and has eclipsed 50 DKFP five times in his last 10 games. He’s easily the safest pick you can make for cash games, but you could need to get a lot more creative for GPPs.
Bam Adebayo ($15,000) and Jimmy Butler ($14,400) have hung around the 45-50 DKFP mark over the last 10 games. Butler gives you the most bang for your buck among the studs, but a value option like Kendrick Nunn ($10,200) could be ideal for tournaments. Goran Dragic has been ruled out with an ankle injury, so Nunn is likely to get more than 30 minutes alongside Tyler Herro.
Miami’s frontcourt is pretty shot behind Adebayo, as Meyers Leonard is out for the season while Chris Silva and Maurice Harkless have been ruled out. Olynyk ($6,200) has been able to capitalize on the Heat’s shorthandedness and has tallied 25 or more DKFP in four of his last five games. He isn’t suited for stopping Randle, but his ability to stretch the floor with his efficient shooting makes him a top-notch flex option.
Reggie Bullock ($4,800) erupted for a season-high 21 points in 31 minutes his last time out and should have a little while before Derrick Rose enters the rotation and takes some of his playing time. Alec Burks ($6,400) is a little pricy for a player who’s still bouncing back from an injury, and Bullock is a solid pivot for much cheaper.
Immanuel Quickley’s ($5,800) are nearly impossible to predict, but he’s logged less than 20 minutes in three straight games. The rookie can provide a punch when he does get on the court, but paying up when other guards in his price range are guaranteed to get 25 or more minutes is a little too risky for me.
The Heat have two All-Stars leading the way for them and already beat the Knicks on the road. I like their odds to complete a sweep back on their home court.
Final score: Heat win 110-102
