The 2021 Super Bowl is officially behind us. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs by a final score of 31-9. There were plenty of fun ways to follow the game, including Super Bowl Squares. If you were playing along, here’s a rundown of quarter-by-quarter results.
The teams exchanged three punts before the Chiefs got on the board with a 49-yard field goal by Harrison Butker. The Chiefs responded with a Rob Gronkowski touchdown on an eight-play, 75-yard drive.
Gronk added a second touchdown with 6:05 remaining in the second quarter after a short field set up a 38-yard scoring drive. Harrison Butker kicked a field goal with 1:01 remaining and the Chiefs looked like they might go into halftime down by one possession. However, two tough defensive pass interference calls led to a one-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Brown with six seconds left in the second quarter.
The Chiefs kicked a 52-yard field goal at the 11:26 mark rather than go for it on 4th and 7 at the Bucs 34. Tampa responded with a 74-yard scoring drive capped by a 27-yard run from Leonard Fournette. Antoine Winfield picked Patrick Mahomes on the next drive and the Bucs added a field goal as the final score of the game.
The Chiefs turned the ball over on downs twice in the Bucs side of the field and Patrick Mahomes threw an interception in the end zone with 1:40 to go, closing out the game and the Bucs win.
