Super Bowl LV is officially under way as the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers each look to secure another Lombardi Trophy. Ahead of the game, the NFL selected three honorary captains to participate in the coin toss. These honorary captains were chosen after their service in their respective professions during the coronavirus pandemic.

As the road team, the Chiefs were the ones to call the coin toss, and they called heads. The coin landed on heads, so Kansas City elected to kick the ball first in Super Bowl 55.

Ahead of the game, DraftKings Sportsbook gave even odds for the coin toss results with heads and tails both sitting at -103. Vegas also gave each team even odds to win the coin toss, with both the Bucs and Chiefs at -106.
