Super Bowl 55 will have plenty of weapons for Tom Brady as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have plenty of quality pass catchers. Throughout Super Bowl 55, we’ll keep track of their performance below.
Mike Evans was the Bucs leading receiver, with 70 catches for 1,006 yards and 13 touchdowns on the year. The huge body out of Texas A&M uses his body as well as anyone in the NFL to make plays and should be a big target on Sunday.
Chris Godwin missed four games with injuries but still managed to rake in 65 catches for 840 yards this season. He added seven touchdowns and a 77.4% catch ratio to lead the team.
With Scotty Miller and Antonio Brown behind them, The Bucs will have options as to where to throw the football, which might depend on who the Chiefs decide to leave open as who is the best player.
We’ll keep track of how the Bucs receivers perform throughout the game here.
Final Update
Gronk led the Bucs in receptions (6), receiving yards (67), and touchdowns (2). Brown was the second-most effective Tampa bay pass catcher and finished with five catches for 22 yards and a score. Evans and Godwin only combined for 40 receiving yards on three catches.
Update After 3Q
Gronk leads the Bucs receiving yards with 67 yards and is trailed by Leonard Fournette (46), Evans (31), Brown (22), and Cameron Brate (20). Godwin has only caught two of his four targets for nine yards.
Halftime update
Evans’ first catch of the game went for 31 yards, but the Bucs’ first drive of the second quarter fizzled out on a goal-line turnover on downs. Gronkowski’s chemistry with Brady has continued to stand out, and the tight end caught his second touchdown of the game to cap off Tampa Bay’s second possession of the quarter. The Buccaneers scored a second touchdown on a one-yard pass to Brown ahead of the break and hold a 21-6 lead. Gronk has team-highs in receptions (5) and receiving yards (42). Brown has caught four passes for 19 yards and a score.
