How the public is betting Chiefs vs. Bucs in Super Bowl 55 as of gameday morning

We break down the Super Bowl 55 betting splits for Chiefs vs. Bucs as of gameday morning.

Super Bowl Sunday has arrived! The Kansas City Chiefs arrived in Tampa on Saturday and will face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. Practice is a wrap, the gameplan has been installed, and we’re running out of pre-game cliches. 60 minutes — plus a halftime show and a whole lot of commercials — is all that stands between us and the Super Bowl 55 champion.

The Chiefs are favored and have remained so throughout the week, but we have seen some interesting movement in how the public is approaching this game. The Chiefs were getting over 70 percent of money and bets well into game week. However, by Thursday, we saw a notable change. The Chiefs were still getting 70 percent of bets on the point spread, but they were only getting 48 percent of the handle.

That’s reverted back as of Sunday morning, but it is not surprising to see a run of money on the Bucs. This is a fascinating rematch of Week 12. The Chiefs won that game 27-24, but the game was not as close as the final score would indicate. Now, the Bucs have nose tackle Vita Vea back in the lineup, and that could be a huge difference-maker.

So where are sports bettors going as we get closer to game time? Let’s take a look. All odds and info were provided by DraftKings Sportsbook as of Sunday morning, February 7th.

Point Spread

The current spread is sitting at Kansas City -3 priced at -113, while Tampa Bay is getting +3 with odds at -108. The betting public is betting the Chiefs to the tune of 67 percent of total bets and 55 percent of total handle. The spread opened at 3.5.

Over/Under

The point total is at 56 with the odds for both sides sitting at -110. Sports bettors expect big points in this game. 68 percent of the bets and 70 percent of the handle are on the over. The point total opened at 57.5.

Moneyline

The Chiefs’ moneyline odds are set at -157 with the Buccaneers at +138 to win this one outright. Tampa Bay is getting 60 percent of the moneyline bets and 52 percent of the handle. To open, the Chiefs were at -175 with the Bucs at +140.
