What Super Bowl 55 odds have settled at as of gameday morning

We look at how the betting odds for the 2021 Super Bowl game have moved since odds opened for the Chiefs and Bucks matchup.

Super Bowl 55 is finally here, and football fans everywhere will be treated to a rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While the game will be at Raymond James Stadium, the reigning champs have long been favored to take home the hardware. Let’s take a look at how the odds have changed ahead of kickoff, which is set for 6:30 p.m. ET.

Super Bowl LV odds: Chiefs vs. Buccaneers

Point spread

Opening line: Chiefs -3.5 (-106), Bucs +3.5 (-115)
First change: Chiefs -3 (-117), Bucs (-105)
Current line: Chiefs -3 (-113), Bucs +3 (-108)

Kansas City claimed a 3-point victory over Tampa Bay earlier in the season and oddsmakers appear to think round two will also be a close game. The point spread has hardly moved since late-January, so injuries aren’t expected to affect the quality of either team by a large margin.

Point total

Opening line: 57.5 (-110 on both sides)
First change: 56 (-109 over, -112 under)
Current line: 56 (-110 on both sides)

The point total has seen some change, but not too crazy. Despite the first matchup between these two teams ending with 51 points scored, the rematch is expected to be a shootout. The original total of 57.5 seemed a little lofty, but 56 isn't far off from where it started. The under is 10-3 when the Super Bowl is a regular-season rematch and both defenses have had ample time to prepare for one another. The point totals for both the last two Super Bowls were installed at 54 or more, and the under hit in both games. I think that trend will continue.

Moneyline

Opening line: Chiefs -175, Bucs +140
First change: Chiefs -165, Bucs +143
Current line: Chiefs -157, Bucs +138

The moneyline odds often mirror the point spread, so it’s not surprising that the Chiefs’ odds have gotten slightly more appealing. They were favorites from the start of the 2020 season and have already beaten the Bucs, and only an injury to a vital skill player would have caused significant line movement.
