In the last game on Saturday night, the Detroit Pistons will wrap-up their five-game west coast road trip against the Los Angeles Lakers. These two teams played each other on Jan. 28 in Detroit, which the Pistons won 107-92.
The Pistons (5-17) are coming off of a 109-92 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday night. Detroit got another 20-point effort from Jerami Grant, who scored a team-high 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field and grabbed two rebounds. As a team, they had five players reach double-figures. The Pistons also struggled shooting the ball as shot 37.4 percent from the field and 19.4 percent from three-point range. Detroit has lost four out of their last five games.
The Lakers (17-6) have won three-straight games after defeating the Denver Nuggets 114-93 on Thursday night. Los Angeles is now 7-3 in their last 10 games. LeBron James led the way with a triple-double consisting of 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. The Lakers had seven players in double figures and did a great job defensively against the Nuggets. They held Denver to only 39.1 percent shooting from the field and 28.6 percent shooting from three-point range.
What can we expect from these two teams on Saturday night? Also, can Pistons snap their losing streak and sweep the season series from the Lakers? To answer those questions and more, here is our pick against the spread and a player prop you need to consider.
Pistons vs. Lakers, 10:00 p.m. ET, NBA League Pass
Pick ATS: Lakers -13.5
The line for this game is currently set at 13.5 points, with the Lakers being favored at the Staples Center. It does not come as a surprise to the Lakers as double-digit favorites over a woeful Pistons team. In their last three games, Detroit has lost by an average of 18.6 points. Additionally, the Pistons are 1-10 on the road this season and have a record of 3-6-2 against the spread.
On the other sideline, the Lakers have played solid at home with a record of 5-4 this season. When it comes to the spread, Los Angeles is 4-5 at Staples Center. The last time they were double-digit favorites, the Lakers (-12) defeated the Cavaliers 118-105, but failed to cover. I don’t believe we will be in that situation tonight as Detroit does not have the offensive firepower to keep up with the Lakers outside of Jerami Grant. Also, the Pistons are playing in the second game of a back-to-back.
