No. 2 Baylor suspends basketball due to COVID-19

One of the top teams in the country won’t play their next two conference games as scheduled.

The undefeated No. 2 Baylor Bears have had their next two games postponed because of Big 12 conference regulations according to a release by the school.

The Bears are 17-0, 9-0 in the Big 12. Only one team has come within double digits of them this season, a 68-60 win over Texas Tech in Lubbock on January 16th. They are the only team in America that sits in the Top 3 nationally in adjusted offense and adjusted defense. Their 43.9% shooting rate from three-point range leads all of Division I basketball.

Baylor’s game against No. 6 Texas that was postponed in December has yet to be rescheduled as well. No other team in the Big 12 has less than three losses, so it’s unlikely these schedule changes will affect the impending conference championship coming to Waco, but might make a difference in terms of strength of schedule that will be needed to get a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
