The San Diego State Aztecs and Boise State Broncos will see each other for the second time in three nights when they get together on Saturday.

San Diego State (18-4, 12-3 Mountain West) leads the conference and is 0.5 games ahead of the Colorado State Rams. The Aztecs have won nine in a row and haven’t lost since January 16th. On Thursday night, San Diego State got the best of Boise State 78-66 at home in overtime. Matt Mitchell scored 24 points on 8 of 17 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds for the Aztecs. They have the No. 12 ranked defense in adjusted efficiency.

Boise State (18-5, 14-4 Mountain West) had their four-game winning streak snapped on Thursday night despite an impressive performance from Marcus Shaver Jr., who scored 29 points on 10 of 21 shooting from the floor including 6 of 16 from the three-point line. The Broncos came back from a 17-point deficit in the second half and rallied to get to overtime where they were outscored 15-3.

Point Spread, Totals, Odds, Trends

Point spread: SDSU -6

  • San Diego State is 5-0 straight up and against the spread in their last five games against Boise State.
  • The total went over in four of Boise State’s last five games, and the over hit in six of San Diego State’s last nine.
  • San Diego State is 8-1 against the spread and 9-0 straight up in their last nine games.

The Best Bet

The Aztecs survived the best shot of the Broncos on Thursday, and it seems unlikely after a gut-wrenching loss they’ll be able to hang around with a more talented program in The Show again. Hotels don’t make teams better, and SDSU has MWC top-seed considerations on the line. Boise deserves an at-large to the NCAA Tournament, but they don’t earn it here.

Pick: San Diego State -6
