The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will be trying to pull the upset when they play the No. 16-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday. These two ACC teams played each other on Jan. 17, where the Hokies won 64-60 in Winston-Salem, NC.

The Demon Deacons (6-12, 3-12 ACC) come into Saturday’s game on a four-game losing streak. On Wednesday, Wake Forest got embarrassed by the Clemson Tigers losing 60-39. In that game, Daivien Williamson (16 points) was one of only two Wake Forest players that reached double-figures. As a team, the Demon Deacons shot a horrendous 25.5% from the field and 20.8% from three-point range.

The Hokies (14-5, 8-4 ACC) suffered a disappointing 69-53 loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Tuesday night. Despite the defeat, Virginia Tech still has won three out of their last five games. The Hokies are looking for their sixth-straight win over the Demon Deacons as they won each game by an average of nine points.

Point Spread, Totals, Odds, Trends

Point spread: Va Tech -10.5
Point Total: 132.5
Money line: Wake Forest +460, Virginia Tech -670

  • Wake Forest has not been playing great this season and in their last six games, they are a pedestrian 2-4 against the spread. But surprisingly, the Demon Deacons are 6-2 ATS on the road this season.
  • The Hokies have also struggled against the spread with a record of 2-5 in their last seven contests. The point total has gone under in six of Virginia Tech’s last eight contests.

The Best Bet

Both teams are coming into this game looking for a win. However, the best bet appears to reside in Blacksburg, Va with the Hokies. This season, when Virginia Tech is double-digit favorites they are 2-2. Wake Forest as double-digit underdogs are a surprising 5-1 ATS this season. It was only a four-point margin the last time these two teams played, but Wake wasn’t also coming off their worst scoring performance this season (39 points vs. CLEM).

Pick: Virginia Tech -10.5
