Report: Tobias Harris ruled out Saturday vs. Cavs, will be re-evaluated in two days

Sixers forward was forced to leave Thursday’s win over the Mavericks.

Philadelphia 76ers v Toronto Raptors

Philadelphia 76ers F Tobias Harris underwent an MRI which revealed no structural damage to his knee, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Friday. Harris was forced to leave Thursday night’s win over the Dallas Mavericks in the second half. The Sixers were coasting to another win, so Harris’ exit was likely precautionary. It doesn’t appear Harris will miss extended time due to a knee contusion. He may be held out a game or two at the most.

Update: Harris is expected to miss Saturday’s game vs. the Cavaliers. He will be re-evaluated in two days, per Shams.

The Sixers only have one game over the weekend on Saturday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. There’s a good chance the team will list Harris as questionable to play or rule him out. Philly is in good position in the East standings and can afford to keep Harris on the sideline for a few games to let him get healthy.

After Harris left Thursday, the Sixers went with a rotation featuring Mike Scott at PF. He played 22 minutes and had 6 points and 3 boards. If Harris were to be held out, we could see a smaller lineup with Matisse Thybulle entering at PF. If the Sixers opt to go bigger, Scott is the likely replacement. Either way, it will mean more offensive responsibility for Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Seth Curry.
