Players to consider fading in NBA DFS for Friday, February 26th

We had a few fades that ended up working out on Wednesday night as we head into Friday’s nine-gamer. LaMelo Ball was one of them against the Suns, posting just 41 DKFP at $8,900. Melo wasn’t bad but he wasn’t great either. The other two were Norman Powell and Kyle Kuzma; both sort of fell flat, so if you avoided all three, you were better off. There are plenty of players to pick from on Friday and we’ll try and steer you in the right direction.

In NBA DFS, there will always be some flashy names that may tempt you to pay up — even in an unfavorable matchup. Name value sometimes comes with reliability, but the trick to cashing in on your NBA lineups is to maximize the boom while operating under the salary cap. Sometimes, this means fading the chalk plays and spending elsewhere.

Here, we’ll break down three top NBA DFS fades for the game slate on Friday, February 26th.

Jimmy Butler, Miami Heat ($9,400)

The Heat take on the seemingly unstoppable Utah Jazz on the road. Miami could be without both Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro with questionable tags. If both are sidelined, you’d think it would open up things for Butler. That likely isn’t the case. No Adebayo or Herro would make it very difficult for Miami to stay in this game. If it’s over by halftime, don’t expect Butler to play enough minutes to return value on this salary. My only concern would be Jimmy being Jimmy and putting the team on his back.

Terry Rozier, Charlotte Hornets ($8,400)

Scary Terry has seen some major price fluctuation this season. He’s been priced anywhere from $5,600 to this high total of $8.4K. So with his price at its highest, I’m not keen on playing Rozier when he has gone cold the past two games. This is a better spot than those, which were against the Suns and Jazz. Still, Gordon Hayward is back and LaMelo Ball has taken control of the offense. Rozier isn’t a bad contrarian option in GPPs because his ownership should be microscopic. Usually that isn’t a good thing, though.

Kyle Anderson, Memphis Grizzlies ($6,200)

The Grizzlies got the best of the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night. That shouldn’t be the case on Friday in the rematch. Slo-Mo had an OK game with 32.3 DKFP on 13-7-6 but he isn’t getting a ton of offensive touches. If the Clippers bounce back tonight, it could mean an early night for the Grizz. Anderson’s a player who spends most of his time priced in the $5K range, so playing him at this number isn’t ideal. He also isn’t seeing a ton of minutes recently; the last time he played 30+ minutes was Feb. 12. Tighter defense and a blowout from the Clippers means I don’t want anything to do with Memphis on this slate.
