How odds have set up for the Alvarez vs. Yildirim super middleweight title fight

We break down the odds for Canelo Alvarez’s super middleweight bout with Avni Yildirim.

Canelo Alvarez is set to defend his WBA and WBC super-middleweight titles this Saturday, February 27th against Avni Yildirim. The two will face off at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida and be broadcast with DAZN. The main card is set to broadcast beginning at 7 p.m. ET, and ring walks are expected at around 10 p.m. ET.

Alvarez is 54-1-2 and back in the ring just over two months after rolling to a unanimous decision victory over Callum Smith. Alvarez retained his WBA Super World Super Middleweight title and also claimed the WBC’s vacant World Super Middleweight title.

Yildirim is 21-2 but hasn’t fought since February 2019 when he lost a technical decision to Anthony Dirrell. This fight is a WBC mandatory for Alvarez, and while it’s not entirely clear how Yildirim claimed the mandatory spot two years removed from his last fight — and it being a loss — boxing’s governing bodies have never really be known for transparency.

It’s a stay-busy fight while Alvarez figures out his next big money-maker fight. For now, he’s a monster favorite and it would be a fairly epic upset to see him lose.
