There are nine games on the schedule in the NBA for Friday night. We get a couple of teams running it back for a rematch on the second game of two-game sets. The Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics take on the Atlanta Hawks again, looking to avenge a loss on Wednesday. The Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz give it another go after the Jazz dispatched the Clips pretty easily. There are some big injuries in both games. Jaylen Brown (knee) is questionable for the Celtics. The Clippers could get both Kawhi Leonard (leg) and Paul George (toe) back in the lineup. Let’s take a look at some betting splits for Friday and how the public is leaning.
Spread analysis
Overall, there is a lot of lopsided action on the spreads. The three highest percentage of bets are going toward the Raptors, Jazz and Warriors. The Raps are on the second night of a back-to-back after beating the Bucks in Milwaukee. Toronto heads over to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves, a much easier matchup. Fatigued may be a factor, though travel shouldn’t make much of an impact. The spread is also pretty low.
The Dubs and Jazz have similar lines and are getting a ton of action. The problem with the Jazz-Clippers spread is the news later. If Kawhi and PG come back, that line may even swing closer to a pick ‘em. If Kawhi, PG, Nic Batum and Luke Kennard are all back, it could swing in favor of L.A. The Warriors could be without Draymond Green, which had somewhat of an impact on their previous game, a comeback win over the Miami Heat. The Orlando Magic are easier to deal with and 4 points shouldn’t be tough to cover.
Over/Under analysis
The two games getting the most action on the over are the Hawks-Celtics and Suns-Pelicans. If Brown is sidelined, I totally get the action on the over. It’s set at 225.5 per the table via DraftKings Sportsbook. The game on Wednesday had a total of 236. No Brown has positive correlation for the Hawks and negative correlation for the Celts.
Suns-Pelicans just feels like a game that should be a track meet. This may not be the case. The Pelicans have decent perimeter defenders, though it’s unlikely Steven Adams will play. If that ends up being the case, a slight boost for Deandre Ayton down low. The Suns are also a plus-defensive team with Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder defending. This game could be tight and lower scoring than we expect.
The game with the most action on the under is Thunder-Bucks given that Milwaukee is on the second of a back-to-back and have looked miserable on offense without Jrue Holiday. The Thunder just lack talent on offense. The line is set at 231.5 when this info came in.
Moneyline analysis
The Dubs and the Raptors are getting a lot of action on the ML, but the team with the highest percentage of the bets if the Denver Nuggets against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Nuggets will still be missing some key players in Gary Harris and Paul Millsap. Will Barton could return to the lineup. Either way, the Cavs will sit Andre Drummond again and have been awful lately. The Nuggets will be a popular team to pair with other plays in a potential ML parlay.
