Iowa’s Jordan Bohannon has a price, and it’s too high for Wisconsin

The Iowa Hawkeyes are one of the top teams in the nation, ranked No. 11 and sitting in fourth place in a loaded Big Ten. They’ve got the likely Wooden Award winner in Luka Garza, and the most efficient offense when adjusted for schedule in college basketball.

That means it’s a pretty good senior year for guard Jordan Bohannon, an Iowa native averaging 10.0 points per game on a team with a chance to win some championships in March and April. But apparently he wasn’t as enamored of their Big Ten rival Wisconsin Badgers.

If you don’t follow college football, the Tennessee Volunteers were accused by sports radio talk show host Dan Patrick of handing recruits cash in McDonald’s bags earlier this season. The university denies the charge while an investigation into the cheating that did take place continues.

The No. 11 Hawkeyes and No. 21 Badgers tip it up on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. in Madison in what should be a terrific conference game live on ESPN3. It’s a shame fans won’t be in attendance, because you can bet Wisconsin fans at the Kohl Center might have had their own take on Bohannon’s comments before or during the game.

And it’s also a shame a kid like Bohannon can’t take advantage of the NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) rights student-athletes will likely have next year, because his new sponsor could be a fast food joint with some golden arches that might become immeasurably more popular in Iowa City.
