No. 16 Tennesee is one of three ranked teams in the SEC and is set to face unranked Georgia on Wednesday. The Volunteers bounced back from their loss to Ole Miss by beating Kentucky on Saturday and will look to keep their momentum going against the Bulldogs, who kicked off their current three-game winning streak with a victory over Ole Miss.
Tennesee (13-4, 6-4) has yet to play Georgia this season. Only one of its four losses have come against an unranked team this year, and that defeat was at Florida on the road. The Volunteers will be at home in this matchup, and they’ve only fallen to No. 10 Missouri and No. 11 Alabama at Thompson-Boling Arena. They don’t have a ton of offensive firepower, but their two oversized guards — Jaden Springer and Josiah James — set the tone on both sides of the ball.
Georgia (12-6, 5-6) has been pretty solid against non-SEC competition. The Bulldogs’ three straight conference wins have helped them gain momentum, though. Sahvir Wheeler has proven to be a constant double-double threat thanks to his lethal combination of scoring and playmaking. The sophomore guard will have to be on his game to overcome the physicality of the opposition’s backcourt.

Tennessee defends as well as any team in America, and that could be a nightmare for a Georgia team that struggles to score on the road.
