Update 11:03 p.m. We are here at the fight, and Amanda Serrano has made her way to the ring. Jimmy Lennon Jr. is making the introductions, and we’re about ready to go!

Celebrity boxing is getting the attention Saturday night Tampa, Florida, but there is a women’s lightweight battle with huge 2022 championship implications. The non-boxing world might be focused on Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley, but the lightweight bout between Amanda Serrano and Miriam Gutiérrez is arguably the most important bout on the card.

The main card for the Showtime PPV gets underway at 9 p.m. ET with Paul-Woodley ring walks expected late in the 11 p.m. hour. Serrano and Gutiérrez are the co-main event of the evening and we can expect them to hit the ring sometime in the back half of the 10 p.m. hour.

Serrano is a huge favorite to win at DraftKings Sportsbook. She is listed at -2500 while Gutiérrez is +1000. If Serrano takes care of business, she will likely face pound-for-pound queen Katie Taylor sometime in 2022. That’s assuming she doesn’t look past Gutiérrez to a huge potential pay-day with Taylor.

Serrano winning by KO, TKO, or DQ is the favored winning method, installed at -450. Serrano by decision or technical decision is +330, Gutiérrez by KO, TKO, or DQ is +1600, and Gutiérrez by decision or TD is +2500.

Amanda Serrano vs. Miriam Gutiérrez round-by-round results

Round 1: 10-9 Serrano

We’re not gonna be here long. Serrano doing whatever she wants inside, and just speedbagging Gutierrez in the corner. Credit to the challenger for even surviving until the first bell, but there appears to be a significant skill gap here.

Round 2: 10-9 Serrano

A nice job Gutierrez to stay on her feet and away from danger, but she also lost the round. If she can keep her distance and space with her reach advantage, she can drag this out a bit.

Round 3: 10-9 Serrano

Almost an even round, and Serrano wasn’t able to flurry or get inside and score. But she was also barely hit, and held most of the ring for the round.

Round 4: 10-9 Serrano

Some good lefts and rights from Gutierrez, but just a hair late and a dollar short against the technical ability of the champion. But full credit for her, this might go 10 when that didn’t seem possible after the first two minutes.

Round 5: 10-9 Serrano

More of the same. Similar activity levels from both fighters, but Serrano is just cleaner, sharper, faster, and more technically proficient. Her punches land cleaner.

Round 6: 10-9 Gutierrez

We got a fight! Gutierrez used her reach and size in the middle of the ring better, and landed more clean punches than she had. Serrano seems to be able to do whatever is needed however, we’ll see if she bounces back here.

Round 7: 10-9 Serrano

If these were three-minute rounds instead of two, it might be over. A clinic of effective aggression from the seven-weight champion. To the head, body, and with both hands. After the last round, Serrano decided to stop playing with her food.

Round 8: 10-9 Serrano

Another great round for the champ, who is four minutes from a likely matchup with Ireland’s Katie Taylor. She’s been solid at a 135 limit for this bout, and fighting the bigger woman is why Gutierrez is here.

Round 9: 10-9 Serrano

Gutierrez is doing the right thing going for the big shot, but that’s leaving her open for the easy counter jab by Serrano. If she hears one more bell, Amanda Serrano will move to 42-1-1 career.

Round 10: 10-9 Serrano

The fighters embrace after a good one, but the decision is not in doubt. Bring on Katie Taylor.

We have it 100-90 for Amanda Serrano
